Make Your Own Biodiesel Fuel

All you need to make your own fuel is a blender from your kitchen, some simple vegetable oil, alcohol and lye - ingredients that are all easy to find.  Within a few hours you can make up enough fuel to fill your tank and all it's cost you is a small amount of money, probably not even equaling what you would have spent if you had went to the gas station and filled up.

What you are making is called biodiesel.  Biodiesel is an alternative fuel.  It is natural and safe.  It is made from renewable resources and burns very clean, without releasing harmful chemicals.   When it is made it also is clean.  The only byproduct created in the process of making biodiesel is glycerin, which is the main ingredient used in making soap.  Glycerin is a non-toxic product that can be used once separated form the biodiesel. 

Unlike traditional petroleum based fuels, biodiesel is completely safe.  It is non-toxic and it is clean.  The emissions from biodiesel are not dangerous to people nor the environment. The Environmental Protection Agency has passed biodiesel as a safe usable product for use in vehicles.  

The best part about biodiesel is it can be used in any vehicle with a diesel engine without modifications.  This fact means it is easier to use than other alternative fuels.  Biodiesel is obviously better than any other fuel choice on the market.

Buying biodiesel is not so easy, though.  Not many stations provide a biodiesel pump.  The best way to get it is to make it yourself. 

The process of making biodiesel is simple.  All it involves is basically a little mixing.  Since there are only three ingredients, you do not have to be a rocket scientist to whip up a batch.

To make biodiesel you will need to gather vegetable oil, alcohol and lye.  You will mix the alcohol and lye, which will create sodium methoxide.  This mixture is then mixed with the vegetable oil.  After letting the completed mixture set the glycerin will separate from the biodiesel.  You can then take out the biodiesel and it is ready for use.

Making biodiesel really is simple.  It is just a matter of deciding that biodiesel is something worth using.  It is hard to see why you wouldn't want to give it a try since it is so safe and so cheap.  In fact, you can even buy a biodiesel kit that will come with everything you need to start brewing biodiesel at home.
