Biodiesel stations
What biodiesel locations offer: They should be compliant with ASTM and NCWM guidelines.
They offer blends of B2, or B5, ranging up to B20. Some will also offer gasoline as well.
What to look for when buying biodiesel from one of these stations.
- Be aware of the blends: blends of up to B20 will work in any diesel engine without the need to modify the
engine. Anything above this should be used with care and knowledge of what you are doing. However even at these
lower blends you will save a lot of cash at the gas pump. Your manufacturer will have literature on what blends
are suitable for your car.
- Be sure the fuel is already blended. You do not want to do this yourself as blending is not as easy as it
sounds.
- Is the biodiesel location reputable? It is wise to be sure that the place where you are purchasing the fuel
from is reliable. It is very important that the blending has been done correctly. If not your engine can be
damaged. Be careful to check out the place before you buy anything. Do not buy from sources that are making
brews at home.
How to find them: Online there are several websites with maps to show you the site of these places. There
are a surprising number of stations, and it is easy to find them. With the maps you can pinpoint your state and
easily find the biodiesel location nearest you. If you are planning a trip you can plan your route and find the
places where you can fill up your car with this fuel as you travel. There are more of these places in the NE and
Mid West of the US. However there are a certain number on the coast of California.
Biodiesel stations offer you a great way to save money at the gas pump. Remember every gallon of fossil fuel you
do not have to use means savings for you. Blends of up to B20 are safe for most engines and will allow you to spend
less as you will be saving all those gallons of gas. It is especially good for trucks, which need a lot of fuel to
deliver their goods.
